Mobile Email FAQ's
Need help connecting your mobile PDA to the LSUHSC-S Exchange Server for email, here are some FAQ's.
- What is the server address?
- What is the domain name?
- Do I need a certificate to connect my device?
- No, the certificate is supplied by the server. There is no need to install a certificate on the client device.
- Do you I need to enable SSL?
Windows Mobile devices:
- Open ActiveSync -> Menu -> Configure Server (Add Server Source)
- Continue and configure using the information listed above.
Palm OS devices:
- Click on Email (or VersaMail) -> Account Setup -> New
- Choose Exchange ActiveSync
- Continue and configure using the information listed above.

Manual iPhone Setup:
(It is recommended that you run the update via iTunes prior to setting up your device for email sync)
- Settings
- Mail, Contacts & Calendar
- Add Account
- Microsoft Exchange
- Email: username@lsuhsc.edu
- Domain: lsumc-master
- Username: your lsumc-master user id
- Password: your lsumc-master password
- Next -> Accept
- Server sh-mail.lsuhsc.edu
- Choose which items you would like to sync: Mail, Contacts, Calendar
Droid devices:
- Open the application menu by tapping the upward arrow.
- Tap the email icon towards the bottom of the list.
- Enter the email and password and continue.
- Three options should be listed on the side: POP3 account, IMAP account and Exchange Account.
- Select Exchange Account.
- Prompting for a Domain / Username (i.e. LSUMC-MASTER/JDOE), Password and Exchange Server Information should arise. Enter in all the information. The Exchange Server is sh-mail.lsuhsc.edu
- Also remember to check the box next to Use Secure Connection (SSL)
- Continue configuring the remaining options as desired. These options should be how often the email is checked, the amount that should be synchronized, to sync contacts from the account in question and whether or not to notify the user when new mail arrives.
- Assign an account name if desired.
- Assign a display name for the email account.
- Tap Done.
MicroComputer Services does not support any devices other than the Blackberry. However because other unsupported mobile devices have the ability to access LSUHSC-S email , MCS will assist in providing support with no guarantee or liability
